Export my data

What the ZIP of readable CSV files contains.

backend/app/domain/export.py: GET /v1/me/export returns a ZIP of CSV files with a README:

  • Profile (username, name, timezone, language).
  • Books and members.
  • Accounts with balances.
  • Transactions, where transfers show both sides.
  • Categories (archived ones marked) and budgets.
  • People, and who owes what.
  • The books’ own exchange rates.
  • Full edit history: each version’s date, type, category, payee, note and amounts in their currency.
  • The changes the user made.

It covers what the user entered, what was recorded about them, and what was derived from it, for every book they’re a member of. It’s written for people: named columns, amounts as decimals in their currency, usernames (or “Deleted user”) instead of ids, and no internal ids at all. Never included: password hashes, two-factor secrets, recovery codes or sessions. It’s also how someone moves their data to another server.
